Money can buy happiness?

Assalamualaikum

Alright, the topic given is to discuss the agreement or disagreement towards the statement which goes, “If money were the only criterion by which a child’s welfare can be gauged, then a baby bought for as much as RM40,000.00 on the black market would seem set for life. For money-rich but child-poor couples, it is a small price to pay to introduce a small life into their home. The cot is gilded, the blanket monogrammed, the college fund filled to the brim. All that’s wanting a bun in the oven. And where there is a baby –for-sale racket, money can indeed buy happiness. And after all, why not?” (NST, March 3, 2013). This statement is important enough to us, the reader to aware about this matter as in Malaysia, we also involved with this issue. From the idea of the statement, I totally disagree with them.

First and the foremost, buy a child in the black market does not guarantee happiness even if you are rich. Money is can’t buy happiness as it actually brings happiness. But, to replace a presence of our family with our wealth it’s something unacceptable. Imagine on when you are buying a child. You must felt happy as the child could bring happiness to you. But, what will happen when they found out that they were purchased and it is in an illegal way? Instead of buying them in the black market and we can’t predict what will happen in the future if they know this disappoint thing, they should do in a legal way (child adoption) and follow the procedure.
Next, by having lots of money, it does not mean you can gauge the child welfare. Nowadays, parents forget to give love and attention as they keep spoil the kids with money. Instead of providing and reminding how important money in life, they should know that the kids also need love and more attention. Not be able to hug them, sharing things with them, not getting an attention that they should get. It is sad, isn’t? All they can do is to ignore these feeling. There is no use having lots of money but there is no connection in term of emotional and love.

In a nutshell, I still disagree with the statement. Money can blind anyone for doing anything including an illegal one. I hope that we can differentiate on what we should buy or not even if we are rich.
